Checking identd.....

sam:
Doest anyone know how to turn off checking identd....at the first couple lines when you connect to server ?

Please help me!!

cyberCLoWn:
Hey there, I dont know why you would like to turn it off though. I find it quite nice specifying my own ident using the identd server in Mirc.

Another things which I have noticed on the Ident Checking in the beginning stages of logging on is that is slows down the loggin process trmendously! When I log into other IRCds it zooms through this stage so maybe its a config mistake which I have made. Please could you assist on how to speed it up.

ShadowMaster:
ident checking cannot be disabled unless you modify the code and rip it out.

If you have a delay on identd lookups when connecting to a server there is something between you and the server, most normally a firewall or personal protection software which drops the IRCd's connection to your port 113 (identd) which in turn forces the IRCd to sit and wait till a timeout occurs since your not accepting the connection, nor rejecting it.. but simply pretending it never happened in the first place (dropping)

The same is also true for the socks check which connects to your port 1080

thangdien:
HI shadow,

Could you tell me where can i modify the code and rip it out? Which file?
thanks

ShadowMaster:
You __could__ try commenting out the line:

  start_auth (acptr);

which should be around line 1438 in s_bsd.c and see if that resolves it, but its untested and i dont know if anything will break because of it.
