WHICH NICKSERV support MySQL and UltimateIRCD?
So IRC chatters can share the same password as forum users (in MySQL).

Thanx in advance.

To my knowledge no public IRC Services as of yet support MySQL.
This is a promised feature in IRC Services 5.1 and Epona 2.x, but both are a bit off afaik.

Moving out of 2.8 support.

You could try the services from Blitzed.org:
http://cvs.blitzed.org/cvs.php/services
their services seem to support MySQL.

I'm having the same problems. I'm one of the developers of phpBB2 (the software you're looking at now) and I'm trying to find a way to integrate my forum database with some kind of IRC server/services. Problem is that my IRC admin skills are, eeh, not there :D

BTW, kind of offtopic.. Does UnrealIRCd support usernames longer than 8 chars? Thanks :D

If it was anyone but you asking that Bart.. well apart from perhaps theFinn or psoTFX.. id spank you with a long hard wooden stick.

Mention of UnrealIRCd is likely to get you spanked by more than a few around here, but to answer your question. UnrealIRCd (based of EliteIRCd which in turn is based of DreamForge which was the old DALnet ircd) has a nick limit of 30 or 32 characters. Same as most IRCd's.

In theory all IRCd's support potentially endless nickname lenghts, but the unofficial support (as this is not written in any official RFC) is a max of 32. Going beyond that will break clients, 3rd party apps, and countless other things.
The reason you see less than 32 char limits on some servers is because of two things.
1) IRC Networks have different policies. Some stick to 9, others to 12, 15 and so on and so forth
2) IRC Networks normally maintain their own IRCd.. and their default compile time settings are based on #1

Oops!
Sorry! 8O

Of course I meant UltimateIRCd, tss. Silly me. I had been searching for IRCd's and services all day, it had became kind of hard to keep it all apart. Sorry!
So I guess UltimateIRCd supports 32 chars too :D

hi, is there now any good (stable) services using mysql databases? which supports ultimate. i tried anope, but it only supports dumping into mysql tables, but not read data from them yet.

i found ptlink services, but this one is better to use with ptlink ircd only.

any other good ones? or is ptlink the only stable?

Im currently running UltimateIRCd 2.8x and Anope IRC Services...

Anope are currently on their way to integrating mysql.
They have completed phase 1 and 2 of their integration (of 3 phases).

Currently it can load and update data to a mysql database, but does not use mysql as its basis for read/writes and saving/retrieving information (the mysql db is just a readonly database of the real one).

Phase 3 of their integration will see complete usage of mysql databases as the basis for using IRC services (so you can integrate fine when this occurs!)

Till then, your outta luck :)

Check out www.anope.org for more info on their stuff

Ok, so this reply is 2 years after the last one, but incase anyone is even interested, I'm currently writing and maintaining my own services package which natively supports (any by no other means) MySQL databases. Reading from it, writing to it on the fly, so you could effectively have a web interface of sort to read the IRC database and have it live, if you like.

I have a version 2.1 of my system which is stable, and supports Ultimate2.8.x (running fine on 2.8.9 as of writing), but I'm working on a version 3 of the system at present which will be written to support Ultimate 3.x (developing and testing on 3.0.1). I'll also be making it modular in time, so that 2.8.x will also be supported.

If this is of any interest of course.
