I cannot recall offhand, but try making the uline server name identical in case to the actual server name.
I can see no reason for the ULine not to work offhand.

Chanserv is not part of the IRCd, and you fail to mention which services you use so i can offer no assistance there.
Please direct the question to the appropriate support forum/mailing list for the services you use.

The mode to allow only SSL enabled clients is +S

I need help with ChanServ, i'm on a network using this ircd. The problem is I want two owners for a channel, someone else is founder. I want to keep it that way but at the same time I can do all the same commands. I am set as level 10 but I cannot do /msg ChanServ levels #channame list

That should let me change the options for each level but it gives me permission denied. I've got no idea what to do, can I sort this out? I think I can do everything else, except that.. Any help would be appreciated :)

P.S Is there any mode to allow only SSL connected clients into a channel? :P

Well #3 is related to services. Since the server doesn't see any, it assumes services were on another server in the split, and thus won't allow ops to be taken on any channels. If you're not going to get services, I'd turn off netsplit protection. (I think it's in your network file, not sure though)

1. dunno, when I recompiled to fix the netsplit thing, it fixed this. weird. maybe it's because I hadn't touched the file, before, and I thought to, this time.

2. err, encrypting the password with mkpasswd is probably a good thing, yes? heh.

3. yeah, read ./configure's flags dumbass. heh.

and yes, searching for the issues by error message here merited the answers, as I figured. I was primarily just wondering if there's any "recommended reading".

BTW.  Do I bother with services, I mean hell, it's like a company of 200 people, maybe 75 of which might actually get on IRC at the same time.  I guess for the experience, but I've just got the kiddie vps, heh.

thanks, folks.

I know enough about IRC to admit I know enough to get into trouble.
I've run a couple of Windows-based IRC servers before, nothing spectacular, simply point-and-click to set everything up.  This is my first experience with a real IRC server, and as is the driving factor behind many things I do in life, boredom led me to compile it. (Actually boredom and a want to socialize with colleagues from work, outside of work, in a chat setting, ergo, our own IRC server.)

Installing Ultimate 3.0.2 onto a Deb 4 system.
configured, made, and installed without issue.
Even configged all the files and it ran and accepted connections first time.
Now I'm running into what are - I am certain - questions that a ton of newbies wind up asking.
Rather than re-ask them all, I'm merely going to request to be pointed toward appropriate reference material, and threads that "every newbie should read".

Three examples?
1. the etc/ file isn't created automatically (not a permissions issue from what I can tell)
2. I connect to the server, /oper, enter the password, and get "Password invalid..." every time, despite changing the password in the o-line and hupping the server.
3. server think's we're stuck in a netsplit. wtf?! No one gets ops on any new channels.

most of this will boil down to configuration issues (I'm sure), so a comprehensive guide to proper configuration of, and ircd.conf would be of great assistance.

Other than this, and a handful of other nuisance-type things, everything works great, and my little VPS is chugging along with no problems.

So I got my UltimateIRCd up and running and I connect services(Anope-1.7.21) up and running, registered my nick and channels but when I goto join the channels upon identifying my nick to nickserv, I dont get oped or anything  >:( ... Help?
In my Network (SkyNet), I have 1 UltimateIRCd Server and 1 Services Server.

U:line in config: U:services.SkyNet:*:*::

Maybe there is else variants? In documentation Anope about this problem nothing be not spoken ):
This could indicate that you do not have your ULine configured correctly for services.skynet.

Remember that services need to be ulined on all servers of your network.
