Well, I don't really know if it belongs here but a bit of research makes me think it is an ultimateircd problem, rather than an anope problem because on different versions of ultimate, it acts different.

I had unreal 3.0 revision 826 installed and I tried to update to the latest anope version seen above. They have a ./listchans executable that you can do to see all channels registered (or search) Whenever I do that, the services will receive a panic buffer from the ultimate. It triggers a crash of anope when I start flooding the channel with logs

Then I installed ultimate 3.1 rev 897, and what I get now is that if I execute ./listchans, it panics right away and crashes..

Can I do something more to trace this bug further or does anyone know what it is ?

Update your copy of anope to the current svn and it should be fixed

If i understand correctly, the listchan program is causing the IRCd to crash?
If so, it would be very helpful to obtain a backtrace (see http://www.shadow-realm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2042 )

Even if it is a problem triggered only by listchan, it should not be allowed to bring the server down, and that is a problem that needs to be fixed on our side aswell.

More feedback would be most welcome :)

it brings the services down, not the ultimateircd.. but the latest build responds differently to it .. I've had a previous dev build installed first, where I first needed to do ./listchans, and then flood the channels where the boserv bot would be, then the services woudl crash

with the latest, ./listchans crashes the server without having to do anything . i'll do as you say and try to find a backtrace of what  ultimate does, I already managed to send one for anope, they still have to test it with my specific builds that I have

PS:  I can't get the core tu dump simply because its not the ircd crashing but its anope, but its weird it is getting so many panic messages from ircd..

I was actually a bit careless with the ircd.ini, because i used the same ini as stabme, but in the mean time theres log features. So i copy pased those settings and now I have an ircd.log that can tell me anything

Thanx for the feedback.
I'll let this one rest unless someone finds anything to indicate that its caused by the IRCd sending out bad data.

This issue should now be fixed in Anope's svn, (or at least thats what the email said).. I have not tested this but the developers have flagged the bug as closed
