Virtual Link
« on: May 15, 2002, 12:01:02 am »
Have any possibility to include a virtual link on ircd? It is a good  tool to use on ISP and to evaluate the amount of users before making one physical link.

See the schematical on attachment.

it is ziped gzip seems to be able to uncompress it.
Here is the content

Code: [Select]

        \                          /
         \                        /
          \                      /
            200.181.192.222 (IRCd)
if dns = irc.isp1.net   if dns = irc.isp2.com
          |                      |
  SendToClient             SendToClientM
   ServerName               ServerNameM
ISP1.LocalHost.Net      ISP2.LocalHost.Net

on /LINKS ISP2.LocalHost.net is showed!

Map of network:

Hub.Localhost.net (physical)
|-ISP1.LocalHost.Net (Physical)
| `ISP2.LocalHost.Net (Virtual)
|-Link3.LocalHost.Net (Physical)
`-Link4.LocalHost.Net (Physical)

Example of this:
irc.ObjetivoNET.com (Physical IRCD)
irc.UZE.com.br (Virtual Link on ObjetivoNET)

Very odd.

When you are in a great net, you you would prevent link ISP with low speed, but you link virtual for this ISP, the same could be used to evaluate the amount of users that a ISP would bring for the net, before makes one physical link.

Couldn't you just map the hostname to the IP of a current Server, and then watch the change in user levels to tell you how many users the server would add? :?:
